Media Debate – Old vs. New 9th Grades

Objective: Develop oral argumentation skills.

Organization: Two teams.

Debate Topic: “Old media is better than modern media.”

Instructions:

1. One team will defend traditional media (radio, newspapers, broadcast TV).

2. The other team will defend modern media (YouTube, social networks, podcasts).

3. Each group prepares their arguments and examples.

4. Then, they present their ideas orally in front of the class or in a small group.

5. Encourage students to use respectful language and take turns to speak.

Suggested phrases:

• “We believe that… because…”

• “In our opinion…”

• “On the other hand…”

• “For example…”

• Expresses opinions clearly and defends ideas with supporting examples.

• Uses linking words: because, for example, however, in contrast, also.
